David Lynch Sends a Message to Trump

Jun 26, 2018  •  Post A Comment

Director David Lynch responded to a frenzy that has been going on since media outlets picked up on a quote from his interview with The Guardian in which Lynch said of Donald Trump, “He could go down as one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much. No one is able to counter this guy in an intelligent way.”

Among the reactions to the quote, Trump reportedly referenced it during a rally Monday night. He also tweeted a link to a Breitbart report on Lynch’s comments.

But Lynch followed up today with a post on his Facebook page that suggests his point was misinterpreted. Here’s what Lynch posted:

Dear Mr. President,

This is David Lynch writing. I saw that you re-tweeted the Breitbart article with the heading – Director David Lynch: Trump ‘Could Go Down as One of the Greatest Presidents in History.’ I wish you and I could sit down and have a talk. This quote which has traveled around was taken a bit out of context and would need some explaining.

Unfortunately, if you continue as you have been, you will not have a chance to go down in history as a great president. This would be very sad it seems for you – and for the country. You are causing suffering and division.

It’s not too late to turn the ship around. Point our ship toward a bright future for all. You can unite the country. Your soul will sing. Under great loving leadership, no one loses – everybody wins. It’s something I hope you think about and take to heart. All you need to do is treat all the people as you would like to be treated.

Sincerely,

David Lynch

  1. Mr. Lynch: The USA is doing very well now that we have a President with the courage to confront the emotion driven, illogical left wing that ran our country so poorly for 8 years. After having undone much of the damage of that previous administration, President Trump still has LOTS of work to do, but he’s on a course for a truly remarkable presidency if he continues to improve the lives of all Americans. (Mr. Lynch, did you know that Black and Hispanic employment is at an all time high for both groups) ?? THAT’s giving people an opportunity for prosperity and success.

    • Cognitive dissonance my friend. You’ll always feel bitter.
