Life magazine’s archive of more than 10 million photos, many of which have never been seen before, is being mined to develop premium children’s TV programming.

Deadline reports that the project is being undertaken by Imagine Kids & Family, the recently formed division under Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment, and Meredith Corporation’s in-house TV production company Four M Studios.

“The first project under the partnership is animated series ‘Life for Kids,’ executive produced by Imagine Entertainment’s Grazer and Howard, Imagine Kids & Family President Stephanie Sperber, and Four M Studios’ Bruce Gersh and Bruce Robertson,” Deadline reports. “Life falls under Meredith’s vast entertainment and lifestyle portfolio.”

The report adds: “‘Life for Kids’ is a fresh take on informative entertainment for kids. The series will use images from America’s preeminent picture magazine, Life, as a jumping-off point to bring history to life in a new, fun, engaging way.  Each animated episode presents a true story from Life’s archive, exploring topics of sports, space, arts, world exploration, natural disasters, and technology.”
