A breakout cable series just had its season extended by 10 episodes, with the series, “Love After Lockup,” being hailed as the fastest-growing new cable reality series, according to WE tv. The current second season, which was originally set to run 14 episodes, received an order today extending the season to 24.

“‘Love After Lockup,’ which was the fastest-growing new cable reality series for 2018, has continued its noteworthy growth trajectory in season two,” WE tv says. “Seven episodes into the second season, the show delivered a series high of more than 1.3 million total viewers in Live+3, double the season premiere viewership, and a series-high 762,000 adults 25-54, up 88% percent from the season premiere.”

The additional episodes, which will appear on WE tv this spring, “will introduce new couples making the complicated transition to love on the ‘outside’ when a partner one has only ever known behind bars is released from prison,” the channel said in today’s announcement.

Added Marc Juris, WE tv president: “We could not be more thrilled with the organic growth that ‘Love After Lockup’ continues to deliver, week after week, as more viewers find and connect with the real stories in the show. We knew we had a compelling concept with this series, and to see viewers respond like this is beyond gratifying. This is a challenging show to produce, but the results that wind up on screen are worth it and we are excited to extend this second season with another 10 episodes of unforgettable stories, characters and real-life drama.”

The series is produced by Sharp Entertainment. Executive producers are Matt Sharp and Dan Adler. Lauren P. Gellert, Kate Farrell and David Stefanou are executive producers for WE tv.
