A murder-mystery comedy series is moving forward that’s written by and stars former “Saturday Night Live” writers Paula Pell and John Lutz, with Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video executive producing along with Seth Meyers and Mike Shoemaker, Variety reports.
The short-form project, “Mapleworth Murders,” was greenlighted by Quibi, the upcoming streaming service from former Walt Disney Studios Chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg that revealed last week it has sold $100 million in ads to six premium partners.
“In ‘Mapleworth Murders,’ Pell is Abigail Mapleworth, a murder-mystery writer who solves homicides in her quaint small town of New Woodstream,” Variety reports. “Each episode will feature guest victims and suspects in search of answering a bigger question: Why are there so many murders in one small town?”
Variety notes that Quibi is expected to launch in April 2020 at $5 a month with ads and $8 without ads.
