Fitness guru Richard Simmons, who has been the focus of concerns about his well-being in recent years, was hospitalized Monday for what’s being reported as “severe indigestion.”
ABC News cites a rep for Simmons who said Simmons was doing better after the incident.
The report quotes Simmons spokesman Michael Catalano saying: “Richard Simmons was hospitalized on Monday at an undisclosed location in California. After a few days of battling severe indigestion and discomfort while eating, we agreed it was best for him to seek treatment.”
Catalano added that Simmons, 68, is “already feeling better and is expected to make a full recovery.”
As we reported last month, Simmons was recently the focus of a “wellness check” by the LAPD, which determined that he was just fine — despite a number of wild theories, with one of the most prominent being that Simmons was being held captive by his housekeeper.
The concerns were fueled in part by the “Missing Richard Simmons” podcast, which eventually concluded that Simmons had his own reasons for letting go of his former public persona.
The ABC News report notes that Catalano announced earlier this month that Simmons had signed a business deal for “merchandising, endorsements and licensing opportunities.”
