“The Hallmark Channel, reversing what it called a ‘wrong decision,’ said Sunday it will reinstate commercials featuring same-sex couples that it had pulled following a complaint from a conservative group,” the AP reports.
“The earlier decision by Crown Media, Hallmark’s parent company, to pull several ads for the wedding planning site Zola featuring two brides kissing at the altar had launched a storm of protest,” the report adds. “Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and William Shatner criticized the move and the hashtag #BoycottHallmarkChannel was trending on Twitter at one point.”
Hallmark Cards CEO Mike Perry said in a statement released Sunday evening: “The Crown Media team has been agonizing over this decision as we’ve seen the hurt it has unintentionally caused. Said simply, they believe this was the wrong decision. … We are truly sorry for the hurt and disappointment this has caused.”
The AP adds: “Zola, the wedding planning site that made the ads, said it was relieved that the decision to pull them had been reversed. In an email to The Associated Press, the company said it would be in touch with Hallmark ‘regarding a potential return to advertising.’”
Please boycott Hallmark. These people should not be getting airtime, especially with our children watching. I don’t wish them harm but I do hope they receive the mental health treatment that they need. There is a natural order to the world, and breaking the laws of God and nature must come with consequences.
As for Hallmark, stay with the values and traditions that got you where you are today. Don’t give into the snowflakes and eggheads who try push diversity down your throat.
I have been a Hallmark fan for years because they were “family” oriented meaning parents did not need to be concerned about their children hearing and seeing things that are contradictory to what they are being taught at home and church. Breaking what God clearly states in the Bible brings great consequences. And, for those who do not believe the Word of God is truth, do you really want your young children seeing and hearing what they now are exposing them too that will confuse them and may be too young to understand?
For me it means I will stop paying the extra charge my provider charges to watch the Hallmark stations. When Hallmark goes back to the values and traditions they have always espoused, I will pay the extra again.
I believe you will find some of your great actors and actresses who are very open about their strong Christian beliefs, will be forced to walk away in order not to compromise their faith. This will be a time where those of us who follow and totally believe the Word of God, will see who will allow their beliefs to be compromised or will stand strong by walking away from working for Hallmark.
If Hallmark start having same sex movie I will stop watching Hallmark because you have kids watching Hallmark and don’t want to confuse them keep it like it is
Hallmark made a huge mistake
Curious as to why Hallmark didn’t look/screen the ad prior to airing it. Seems to me the people that screen all commercials should have told someone up the food chain. That person I would fire.
